Rare North Pinot Noir
A fragrant wine, bursting with brambly red raspberry, rhubarb, watermelon and sweet clover that mingle with lightly-roasted espresso beans. Lively, medium-bodied, fresh and inviting with flavors of tangy citrus leading to farmer’s market ripe marion berries and a hint of herbal bergamot tea in the background. A beautiful herbaceous pop adds dimension to this Pinot with silky tannins and grippy acidity, and finishing with elevated acid. A true expression of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.

about the label
Where visual art and the art of science intersect
Ratios, measurements and abstract ideas define Sean’s art and AJ’s winemaking. Both thoughtful and calculated with a sense of preparedness, mindful of the end results. Sean and AJ had just left their corporate jobs in search of new career beginnings and a sense of place, and passion for what they do. Meeting for the first time at the Santa Barbara Public Market, Sean was looking to add AJ’s Turning Tide Wines to his Jacob-Sean Selections portfolio, which he did, but sparked new ideas and a budding new friendship.
Sean Best, with his degree in fine arts from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, was inspired by all the geographic wonders in the Pacific Northwest to create a label showcasing the vibrancy of the landscape filled with rivers, unique thermal patterns, and its ancient mix of soils deposited by historic floods—artistic but yet geographically correct. The name of the wine is inspired by the Willamette River, which traverses a Rare northward flow through the Willamette Valley.
